The SHARE (Society for Human Advancement through Rehabilitation Engineering) Foundation is transforming lives through the power of assistive technology, providing physically challenged and nonspeaking individuals with the tools they need to communicate and become more independent.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the SHARE Foundation is to empower people with severe disabilities to lead lives of greater independence and self-fulfillment. We adapt technology to our clients’ needs and abilities, enabling them to perform everyday tasks and to express themselves for stronger connections with their families, caregivers and the community. SHARE strives to improve the quality of life for the clients we serve, ensuring that they have the tools and support necessary to communicate their thoughts and desires and to participate more fully in all aspects of life.

OUR SERVICES

At SHARE, we take a personalized approach with each client, learning their story, assessing their needs, and customizing technologies and equipment to suit their unique abilities. Through comprehensive training and continuous support, SHARE's dedicated team ensures that clients, families and caregivers gain the necessary skills to maximize the benefits of our solutions. All services and equipment provided by the SHARE Foundation are provided free of charge.

OUR HISTORY

The SHARE Foundation grew from a quiet quest to enrich one young woman’s life by adapting technology to meet her needs. A custom computer system was created that gave Linda Texceira, who was born with cerebral palsy, the life-changing gift of communication. More systems for other people with disabilities soon followed, and the SHARE Foundation was incorporated in 1982 as a nonprofit by its founders, electrical engineers Les Cory, Phil Viall and Rick Walder. Since then, SHARE has delivered hope and possibility to thousands of individuals living with physical challenges.
